Endurance Formula + Energy Gels
Gatorade Endurance is a portfolio of products created specifically for endurance athletes who are training and racing for prolonged periods of time when fluid and electrolyte losses can be significant. Grounded in years of hydration and sports nutrition research conducted by world renowned experts and the Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI), Gatorade Endurance products help deliver critical fluids and nutrients endurance athletes need during training or racing. Consuming 12 oz. of Endurance Formula contains 22 g of carbohydrate and the Endurance Gels contain 20 g. Gatorade Endurance Formula and Energy Gel is served on-course at the First Watch Sarasota Half Marathon, Relay & 10K. SAG wagon and back of the pack crew
The SAG wagon and back of the pack crew will signify the end of the field and the maximum 18-minute-per-mile pace. They will not start timing until the last person crosses the start line and will be with you throughout the race. If you cannot maintain an 18-minute mile pace, you will be required to board the support buses.
Please note: Due to safety restrictions on the course wheelchair participation and strollers of any kind are not permitted.
For your safety and for the timely reopening of the streets to vehicular traffic, you must reach key locations by specified times or you will be required to take provided transportation. Partial lane closures will be utilized. Please stay inside the cones at all times (especially in the neighborhood section of the route at miles 9-12), and obey all public safety officers and course marshals.
PLEASE DO NOT START EARLY! Traffic and safety rules prohibit early starts. Early starters will be eliminated from the Official Results.
Because there will be runners sharing the roadway along this route, there will be temporary lane closures at the following locations:
- Southbound US 41 from University Park to Gulfstream Avenue
- Westbound University Parkway at US 41
- Gulfstream Avenue/ John Ringling Blvd at US 41
- Westbound Jon Ringling Blvd from US 41 to St. Armand’s Circle
- Eastbound John Ringling Blvd from St. Armand’s Circle to Bayfront Drive
- Southbound US 41 and Gulfstream Avenue (Beach traffic will be directed into one lane for Westbound turns.)
- Northbound US 41 and Gulfstream Avenue (Only one lane for beach traffic, the second turn lane will be closed. Both Northbound US 41 lanes will remain open.)
The course and finish line will be open for three hours and thirty minutes. All participants must maintain a pace no slower than 16 minutes per mile in order to be recorded as an official finisher (with time and place). Anyone not keeping up with the course cut off time will be asked to complete the course on the sidewalk due to the City of Sarasota traffic and permit requirements. Early starts are not allowed.
When you cross the finish line you will receive your finisher medal, water and take a celebratory picture. Then, you’ll exit finish line chute to our post-race festival where you will find delicious breakfast items as well as a live band presented by First Watch.
Sarasota in October means incredible weather on the west coast of Florida. For the past few years the race has started in the lows 60s and risen about 10 degrees without a single cloud in the sky (March race date). Weather predictors show similar weather patterns in October as what we’ve experienced in March. It’s the perfect weather for a run!
