2019 URGENT RACE UPDATE – The Sarasota 5K will now take place on Sunday, Oct. 20 alongside the Sarasota Half Marathon, Relay & 10K.

In light of the anticipated heavy rainfall and wind gusts expected to impact Sarasota and present potentially dangerous conditions on Saturday, and in collaboration with local city officials and weather experts, we made the decision to reschedule the 5K event. We regret the inconvenience caused by this change as we work to prioritize participant safety, and are excited to be able to offer an alternative with the Sunday race date.

5K participants should follow the schedule for Sunday’s Sarasota Half Marathon:

  • 5:30 a.m. – 6:15 a.m. Race day packet pickup
  • 5:30 a.m. Gear check opens
  • 6:30 a.m. Race start
  • 9:15 a.m. Awards ceremony
  • 10:30 a.m. Race ends
  • 11:00 a.m. Gear check and Finish Festival close

The new 5K route will start and end with the Half Marathon at Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall: 777 N Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34236. The new route is also available online here.

5K t-shirts and medals can be retrieved at packet pick-up on Saturday at Fit2Run (1400 Main Street) or at the Results tent on Sunday.

Official bib numbers will be assigned at Packet Pick Up. Participants must bring their photo ID in order to be assigned a race bib. If picking up on behalf of someone else, a copy of the participant’s photo ID must be provided to event staff (a digital copy on a cellular device is acceptable).


All 5K participants will look forward to the following:

  • On-course aid support.
  • Finisher medal for all – those who cannot make the race may pick up their shirts and medals from Packet Pick Up at Fit2Run (Saturday) or at the Results tent on Sunday.
  • Access to Sunday’s Finish Festival and post-race breakfast buffet, courtesy of
  • Custom participant shirt (men’s/women’s sizes)
  • Awards for top finishers – 3 deep – overall and age group.
    • First place finishers (overall and age group) will receive a $20 gift card!
  • Pace Requirement: 16 minutes/mile

*Strollers and walkers will be allowed, but must line up at the back of the starting line corral.

Race Information

Packet Pick Up Details
During Packet Pick Up, participants will receive a race bib with timing chip attached, race t-shirt, safety pins and a clear plastic Gear Check bag. The clear plastic bag is required for those who plan to utilize Gear Check at the venue.

IMPORTANT! Remember to complete your emergency contact on the back of your participant bib. Race bibs must be worn by all participants and must be visible to race staff at all times. Failure to wear your assigned race bib will result in disqualification and removal from the race course.

Gear Check
The Gear Check facility is located within the Finish Festival on Central Ave (between 1st and Main Street) and will be open from 6:00 – 6:55 AM. Gear should be dropped-off prior to entering the Start Corral. Place all items inside the clear plastic bag and affix the Gear Check label from the race bib to the bag. Participants must have a race bib to use Gear Check.

NOTE: All baggage must be inside the CLEAR PLASTIC BAG provided at Packet Pick Up. Baggage will not be accepted if items are not properly stored inside the bag. Personal bags or backpacks may not be placed directly in the clear bags. All items must be visible.

Results & Awards
Live results will be accessible from the Results tent within the Finish Festival, via the Athlinks App and on our event website. Overall awards will be awarded to the top 3 male and female finishers, as well as the overall male/female push rim winners and will presented during the Finish Festival. Age group awards may be picked up at the Results tent and categories are as follows:

  • 14 and under
  • 15-19
  • 20-24
  • 25-29
  • 30-34
  • 35-39
  • 40-44
  • 45-49
  • 50-54
  • 55-59
  • 60-64
  • 65-69
  • 70-74
  • 75+

*Please note that all age group awards are based on chip time, NOT gun time. Overall winners and course records will be determined according to gun time.

Finish Festival
A post-race elevated Continental-type breakfast, courtesy of , will be provided to all official participants. Plus, all 5K participants are invited to Sunday’s post-race breakfast buffet and party! Simply bring your 5K Finisher medal and/or race bib and gain access to the gourmet breakfast buffet after the Half Marathon, Relay & 10K race on Sunday at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall.
